Meet the Lab

Alex Dufford, PhD — Director and Principal Investigator

Dr. Alex Dufford is an Assistant Professor within the Center for Mental Health Innovation (CMHI) and Department of Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University. He completed his undergraduate degree at Penn State University in Psychology before traveling to Colorado to earn a doctoral degree in Developmental Psychology at the University of Denver. Soon after, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Yale School of Medicine. Outside the lab, his interests include bluegrass music, running, and spending time with his wife (Carol) and their two pets, Pippa (dog) and Tilly (cat)

Matthew Sullivan, M.S. — Research Data Analyst

Matthew Sullivan has been involved in research for almost a decade, ranging from aerospace composite materials to web-based audio assessors for hearing exams. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington and received his master's in electrical and computer engineering from Portland State University in 2024. His current interests lie in pattern-based predictions and risk management. Outside of work, he plays piano and soccer in addition to swimming and bouldering.

Allison Corlett — Clinical Psychology PhD Student

Allison Corlett (she/her/hers) is a doctoral student in OHSU’s Clinical Psychology Program. She completed her undergraduate degree at Carleton College in Psychology and Neuroscience and her post-baccalaureate work at the University of Minnesota. Allison's primary interests include maternal-child health, neuroimaging, pain, and neurodevelopment. In her free time, Allison enjoys long walks with her yellow lab (Daisy), cooking, and reading.

Jing Xie — MD/PhD Student

Jing Xie (she/her/hers) is a current MD/PhD graduate student at OHSU Medical Scientist Training Program. She completed her BA in Neuroscience with a minor in Math at Bowdoin College. Following college, she worked in transcranial magnetic stimulation and neuroimaging research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Her primary research interests include neuromodulation and neuroimaging to better understand psychiatric disorders. In her free-time, Jing enjoys hiking, tennis, reading, and catching up on reality TV shows.
